Birds

I was covering for our Receptionist today at lunch in our main lobby.
I must've looked like a dog hearing an odd noise as
I was walking around tilting my head from side to side trying to
determine where a sound was coming from.

It sounded like there were birds in the ceiling.
Like, in the ceiling, right under the ceiling tiles.
Then I looked out the front door.

They were all chirping at once & it
was really loud.
They're probably confused about the weather.

Have You Heard That The Bird Is The Word?

Wednesday evening , after I finished watching
one of my favourite Big Bang Theory episodes, it was
nice enough outside to take Crockett for a short walk.

He can only go out for a tinkle if it's too humid.
Being a Pug with a short snout, cooling off for him in an Olympic event.
The poor monkey pants and pants and pants.
I love him to death but it is sometimes so loud, I can't get to sleep.
That AND it makes me worry about him.

While approaching the park, I could hear a Robin singing.
It was so loud and so perfect.
Once I was in the right area, I stood still to try & find it.
She was sitting on a branch up high in the sun singing her heart out.
It was lovely.

 Can you see her?
Look for her brilliant red chest in the sun light.

There were artists in the park, with their easels set up.
I tried to sneak a peak at their canvases but I felt as though
I was intruding.

I saw Daisies in the park for the first time.
The other's I've photographed this year were on
peoples front yards.
Last year the park had Brown Eyed Susan's, but as I've noted
previously, the Daisy is my all time favorite.
My wedding bouquet was mostly Daisies.

It was just to be a short walk, so I pointed Crockett
in the direction of our front door.

One final tinkle was had and now he is laying flat
bellied on the wood floor where it's cool.
His breathing is ok & he's had a nice cold drink of water.

There's only one thing to do when it's hot & you don't
have AC.  Go to bed & sleep through it.

Up With the Birds

Considering the amount of sleep I've had over the past 3 days, it
wasn't surprising to me that I was wide awake this morning at 5:30am.

That is still a bit too early to head out for a walk with Crockett
as there are still a few partiers from the night before stumbling home.

Half an hour longer and it's folks with dogs and runner/joggers.

Thank goodness there is a 24Hr store a block north that has
a single cup coffee maker.
I went & grabbed a cup of coffee then came back for Crockett
and off we went.

Another photo heavy post today.

5:58am looking East.

When I looked the other way, I noticed the Moon was still out.

My love of close up flowers continues

This little one was singing to its heart content

These remind me of Gooseberries, only smaller

Daisies

The Daisy is my favorite flower. Always has been.
Simple and beautiful.

One should always look up.
You never know what you'll see.

When we got back home, Crockett wanted nothing to do with going inside.
I let him lead me wherever he wanted to go and all he wanted to do was walk.

I'm happy Crockett took us off course. I got to see 3 small Chipmunks.
I love Chipmunks.
Had I not had Crockett I could have got closer.
This is the only one who stood still long enough to get a blurry shot of.

I sat down for a rest & got the stink eye from Crockett.
He wanted to keep walking.

By the time we were done, the moon was still clear in the sky.
This last shot was taken at 7:08am.

Alot of Swearing and Birds

Since Saturday, I have been having some
rather disturbing computer issues.

Trojans, Rogues, Malware... Bastards!

I think it's all settled now, but I honestly
get anxious when I hit enter!

I did alot of Yosemite Sam mumbled swearing
and straightout cussing like a sailor.

Now, onto nicer things.
Birds.
Seagulls to be exact.

Today was a humid hazy day with a bit of a breeze.
There are a few corners in my neighbourhood that
seem to be wind tunnels.
The subway stop corner is one.

I was waiting for the bus home and I looked up
and noticed, higher than normal, a large
flock of seagulls flying and coasting on the wind.

(Too funny, I was trying to think what the correct
term was for alot of seagulls and, if you were a teenager
in the 80's, you understand why I got it!)

I was mesmerized.  They were slowly floating south and
I was hoping they'd be above my place when I got home.
I was lucky and they were.

I took a few shots and it looks like I have dirty specks on my
screen, but if you click on them to enlarge, you can see their wing spans.
The closer up ones were taken with the zoom lens but I
had a really difficult time finding them in the viewer once I'd
extended the lens.
Beginner!

It was really awesome to just stand there on the sidewalk
and look up and see them floating on the breeze so high up.

Click on the above photo to enlarge - I count 22 Seagulls.
On the photo below, 19 Seagulls!

Listen to the Birdses Precious

This morning at 4:30 I was awakened by
the birds outside singing.
They sing every morning and I love it.

The difference is this morning, Yonge St was closed
for the Good Life 10k so there was no traffic noise.

That is a gift. No buses, no taxis.

I opened a window, grabbed my camera, laid back
down, set it to video
and just recorded. It was really lovely.

You can just vaguely see my open window
and the pre-sunrise sky.
Adam or Crockett thankfully weren't snoring!

Sadly about 10 minutes later, 3 young folk who were just
leaving a party were standing across the street talking to each
other or, actually, yelling at each other.  I was so irritated.
We finally get a break from traffic and now
we have to hear post party drunk talk.

Someone from the bldg next door after about
15 minutes yelled at them to shut up.
They yelled back they were waiting for a cab.
Odd that they didn't notice right away
the lack of any vehicles.

Ahhh drunken youth.
Nature 1.  Man 0.

Dog Boots - Part Trois

Last night, I was exhausted.
After having so much time off at Christmas (NOT complaining)
it has been tough to get back into the work routine.
I also had a task to complete this past week
that was very data entry intensive which in itself
makes me mentally tired.

Upon arrival home last night, I put on my flannel jammies
and laid down on the bed under a comfy blanket for a nap.
That was at about 6:30pm.
I woke up this morning at 10:30am.
Well rested.
The kind of over sleep where I have lots of dreams.
I can only half remember them now a mere 90 minutes later.

We had a nice snow fall overnight and I was really looking forward to
my Saturday morning walk with Crockett.
I pulled out the box of ridiculous balloon Dog Boots
and as soon as he saw the color orange he sat straight up
in a defensive position and gave me the stink eye.
As soon as I moved closer to him, he bolted to
the living room and hid under the table.

I wrapped myself up nice and off we went.
Here is our walk in pictures.

The sidewalks are good. Not slippery and no salt.
The streets are not in good shape for driving.
They haven't been plowed.
If Yonge St. hasn't been plowed I fear for the side streets.
When I came inside, the radio news announced that the OPP are
getting accident notifications every minute.

He likes the snow. He just looks confused when trying to decide where to *go*.

This photo is a good measure of the snow fall.

Good thing I tucked my jammies into my boots.

As we were walking I heard birds singing. It was really nice.
I looked around and caught sight of 2 Cardinals.
I didn't want to move to and scare them away.
I put my camera on the Landscape setting and used the zoom feature.
I didn't think they'd come out  clear as I didn't let go
of Crockett's leash for fear he'd spook them.
They came out ok.  If you click on them & look at them
larger you can see the detail better.
There are two birds.
There is another one further back in the tree.
If you look left you can see a bit of red.

I pass this everyday.
Crockett frequently tinkles on it.
With snow on it, it looks like a face.
Adam says it looks like the Iron Giant.

I'm back indoors, eating a hearty warm porridge with a cup of tea,
but outside playing is I think, the place to be today.
As long as you're nowhere near cars or the road.

Adam was a dear and did all the house cleaning chores last night
while I was in an deep slumber so on my to do list today is NOTHING.
Perfect.
