Pug Communication

I know exactly what Crockett wants.
He has me well trained.

We've been back from our morning walk for awhile.
I picked up a coffee, so when we came inside, I
went straight to my laptop to enjoy
my drink and to get my Sunday fix of Post Secret.

I then felt as though I was being watched.

I very calmly reached for my camera, put
in my memory card and turned around to see this:

See....eyes on me no matter where he was.
Then he let out a big sigh, got up and walked away.

As I was loading the above pictures, he came back.
This time with a pathetic sounding sigh that
I interpreted as, " you don't love me mommy".
He plopped his head on the ground the gave me
another look.

He melts my heart.

I must now be a responsible pet owner
and fill a ceramic bowl full of dry stinky kibble
that he loves & will make him happy with a full belly.

P.S:  Mom, I know my base boards are dusty. Give me a break, I've had the windows wide open the last week. It gets way too dusty here way too fast! They'll be clean by your next visit!  Love you!

quelle belle journée

If the weather all summer was like it is today, I would love it.
Crockett got a bit hot, but once he hit some shade he was
able to cool down enough.
I did take him on a longer walk than normal today.
A tired dog is a happy dog.
I'll make his basket out in the living room all
comfy & he can enjoy sleeping under an open window
with a slight breeze.

We dropped Adam off at the bus stop to run some last
minute chores before our long weekend.

I'm giving thanks this Thanksgiving weekend
for many things.
Mostly, I love spending time with my Adam
and our Crockett.

I am going to relax for the rest of the day,
maybe do some baking.
We have some nice strawberries so maybe I'll whip
up a nice sponge cake.

Here's our walk in pictures.

The Magic of TV

I knew that they were filming something close by as they always
use the same type of orange pylons to indicate where the crew should park.

When I got home from work today, this was under our door:

Adam said it was a good thing I wasn't home as he
did hear what he said sounded like "machine gun fire".
I would not have liked that at all.

I grabbed Crockett and, being the nosy nelly I am,
went off to see where they were filming in my beloved park.

They replaced our Canadian flag with the Union Jack.

Crockett wanted to tinkle on the wires.
I didn't let him get anywhere close enough!

They were shooting at the bottom of the stairs.

Big Light.
Crockett oughta be in pictures!

Tickled My Funnybone

This photo, a popular meme on the Internet,
has caused me to giggle on & off to myself for the
past few hours.

I find it hilarious!

Get it?
Gollum & Precious!
HAHAHA!

Drawing Part II

I am not an artist.
I've never taken an art lesson.
I just have begun to really enjoy trying to draw and paint.

On my Project 365 for yesterday, I took a photo of a
pencil drawing of my Mom.

I have issues getting faces mathematically correct.
I've read that there is an equation for every face for
exactly where everything should be.

I'm using the "put my pencil to paper and draw
what I see in the photo" technique.

I'm enjoying it.

This is a pencil drawing, with pink lips, of
Adam's Mom.

Ten On Wednesday

10 Foods I Love To Eat/Drink In The Fall

1. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latté
I haven't had one yet! This weekend I have to have one!

2. Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
I like it with crunchy breadcrumbs on top.

3. Baked Apples with Nutmeg & Cinnamon
I could eat this every single day in the winter.

4. A nice evening bowl of Porridge with Brown Sugar & Milk
I had a bowl of porridge just last night. To me porridge is the ultimate comfort food.

5. Hot Chocolate with mini marshmallows
This is best enjoyed outside when there's a chill so it can warm up the nose with every sip.

6. Homemade Soup
My Dad makes a great soup. A bit of everything that's in the fridge & then blend it up and heat. I like my soups to include barley. I love barley.

7. Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream
PC actually make a really really good Apple Crisp.

8. Baked Acorn Squash
The first time I ever tried squash was at Gayle's & I really love it.

9. Rice Pudding
The ultimate runner up of comfort food. I make a mean rice pudding. I like it when it's so thick I can slice it.

10. Halloween Molasses Kisses
Bad for the teeth, but I LOVE these. When I went out Trick or Treating, I'd exchange my chocolate bars for molasses kisses.

It's The Thought That Counts

I at least hope that's how my colleague
feels when I give her this homemade
birthday card tomorrow.

If she doesn't, well, too bad for her.
I really enjoyed making it.
It's watercolor paint.

Apples

It's apple picking time.
I love going to the orchards & reaching up to the branches
to select the perfect apple.
My favourite are Spartan and Russets.
I don't normally like MacIntosh, but right off the tree,
they're like butter.

We don't have a car so I looked online with the transit systems
available and one farm, up in Uxbridge would take me
2 hours & 34 minutes one way.
To drive it, 32 minutes.
That really pisses me off.

There is another one in North Brampton,
that we usually go to.
I'll have to check out my transit time on that one.

My only other option, if we don't get up to the Orchards will be
I'm sure they'll have some fresh local apples
and it's only a 20 minute subway ride.

Homemade Apple Sauce is calling me.
Big Chunks of tasty apple with cinnamon.
I'm hungry.

A Day In The Kitchen

I spent my day in the kitchen.
I cooked food for today and tomorrow.
I cleared out and organized the pantry.
I organized the tupperware cupboard.
I did dishes.
I clearned countertops.
I always feel better when I've cleaned,
organized, and cooked.
It makes me really happy and content.

Turtleneck Weather

Woke up this morning and I knew it was going to be a great day.
The sky was blue with a few white puffy clods here and there,
the tree branches were moving in the breeze and there is
that perfect fall day cool crispness in the air.
I put on my first turtleneck of the season!

After feeding Crockett and having a nice cup of Jasmine tea,
we went for our Saturday morning walk in the park.
The park changes so much from weekend to weekend.
Today, for the first time I noticed they'd planted tomatoes in one of the flower beds.
How lucky am I to have this space, in the city,
as basically my back yard.

Saved the best 'til last.
This is one of my favorite photos I've taken of Crockett in a while.
His nose was healthy wet, he'd spent an hour filling his lungs with fresh air
and new scents.
He was so into what he was sniffing that he didn't move his
head or shift his eyes when I stuck my camera in his face.
