I (We) Did It!

The room is tidy, the laundry sorted & my Adam
was a sweetheart & did 1 load of laundry yesterday.

This allowed me to set myself up in my little corner
and do some painting while I had
The Big Bang Theory Season 3 on DVD in the background.

I did a copy of a photo of my parents with my brother and his family.
I hope my parents like it.
I just started painting and although I like it,
I understand if people thinks it looks like the work
of a 10 year old & maybe can win a
spot on the fridge for a bit.

Drawing Part II

I am not an artist.
I've never taken an art lesson.
I just have begun to really enjoy trying to draw and paint.

On my Project 365 for yesterday, I took a photo of a
pencil drawing of my Mom.

I have issues getting faces mathematically correct.
I've read that there is an equation for every face for
exactly where everything should be.

I'm using the "put my pencil to paper and draw
what I see in the photo" technique.

I'm enjoying it.

This is a pencil drawing, with pink lips, of
Adam's Mom.

It's The Thought That Counts

I at least hope that's how my colleague
feels when I give her this homemade
birthday card tomorrow.

If she doesn't, well, too bad for her.
I really enjoyed making it.
It's watercolor paint.

Drawing

It is spelled drawing however, in my mind, it sounds like draw-ring.
With a bit of a British accent of course.

Sunday afternoon, I painted my very 1st watercolor.
You can see it on my Project 365 Page for Sept 18'11.

Sunday evening, I felt like sketching with my pencil.
Here is the deal with me and draw-ring.
I cannot just create from within, I can copy anything.
I really need to take an art class because I have
difficulty with scope.
Also, I can draw a really nice eye, but not on a face,
unless it's Stewie Griffin!

So this was what I wanted to sketch.

This is where I should have stopped draw-ring.
This is where I am happy with it.
After this, I chose a very light green for the skirt and
it just didn't work.

Plus, I really need to learn how to draw cute pixie faces.
This one, with brown hair and closed eyes looked like a middle-aged librarian
sitting on a toadstool!

What's more important to me is that I am enjoying
trying something I've never done before.

Poor Adam, his office walls will be covered with my creations.
Let's hope it doesn't end up looking like a wall in a kindergarten class!

A Wonderful and Dangerous Place

Today was an absolutely beautiful day here in Toronto.
It was sunny and breezy.

After taking Crockett for his morning walk, Adam
and I must have walked 10 miles!

We walked down to check out the Community/Recreation
Center down the street.
We looked it up online as we both want somewhere to go
to exercise but don't want to do the commercial gym thing.

I want somewhere with diversity and close to home.
I want to swim, walk, take a yoga class or play
badminton or volleyball.
I was always active in my youth and I'd rather be doing something
other than walking mindlessly on a treadmill for 30 minutes
while watching a big screen tv.

Sadly, it was a bit underwhelming.
They have quite a few activities that are free or pay
as you go, so we'll check a few out before
we sign up for anything.
Plus, it's almost summer,  the walking trails and parks
of the city will turn into our gym.

Now, to the Wonderful and Dangerous Place.
We went into the store DeSerres.
To describe this store is to say that it is a place of inspiration.
It is a Wonderful and Dangerous Place as
I could have spent 4 hours browsing and easily
$500 on Art & Craft Supplies.

I was good and only made a small purchase.
I grabbed a copy of their flyer and bought
2 Sharpies - pink and green and
2 small notebooks by ecojot with blank pages -
pretty flowers and a bad ass Pug.

Adam bought 2 Sharpies - brown and baby blue
and some Original Silly Putty.

Good shopping day for us both!
