Reading with Crockett

Finishing work early on Friday is great!

On my way home, I stopped off at the store to pick
up some new cleaning supplies.
This weekend, with the nice cool air in the forecast I am going to
tackle the Spring Cleaning, windows and all.

Funny, what motivated me was a Pine Sol commercial.
New lemon scent.
The lady, after mopping her floor, was standing there
breathing in the fresh clean scent with a look
of utter peace and joy. That's what I want.
A clean, really clean, apartment makes me happy
so that is what I'll do.

Of course tomorrow morning I have my 10:30am
date at the theater with Harry Potter.
I'm reading the final book again.
Enjoying it.

I spent an hour laying on the bed in comfy blankets with Crockett reading.
Then he looked so adorable I took a bunch of photos of him.

He really has a great face.

Holy Storm Batman!

So, today was hot.
Stinkin' hot.
Record heat hot.
Pants stickin' to the back of your leg hot.

7:00pm the sky got real dark real fast.
7:03pm the wind was blowing every which way.
7:05pm it was pouring rain.
7:06 - 7:15pm the Thunder never stopped.
7:15- 7:40pm rain, wind, thunder & lightning continue.
7:40pm HAIL!!!!
7:43pm rain has melted all the hail.
7:43pm to now, still raining, still windy, still thundering & lightning.

No more humidity!

Quiet. Please.

My life lacks quiet.
That does not mean it is busy or that my social
calendar is full, it means it is too noisy.

I sit here in front of this screen past 10:00pm
on a Tuesday night and the sounds are plentiful
even though my window is closed.

I hear cars and buses on the street.
I hear people talking as they walk by.
I hear and feel the subway underneath me.
I hear the people in the apartment above walking around.
I hear the outside door open and close.
really hear the garbage trucks emptying the recycle bins.

During my commute, the bus and subways announce every stop.
I hear people talking to each other.
Talking and/or yelling on their cell phones.
Teenage girls saying "like" every second or third word.
Teenage boys swearing every second or third word.
Women kissing their teeth.
Men clearing their throats.
The thumpa thumpa coming out of the ear buds
of people who feel the need to listen to their ipods way too loud.
And the worst, on too often an occasion, the sound of someone clipping their
finger nails, or snapping gum in their mouths...yes....on the bus.

As I walk home from the subway station, I hear
impatient people beeping their car horns.
Taxi's giving a "beep" to catch the attention of the folks
waiting for the bus, hoping that their impatience will get them to hail
the cab rather than wait one more minute.

I need quiet.
I feel like my head will explode if I can't get some peace.
I don't have a room, a quiet corner in the basement,
or anywhere to go where there isn't some noise.
I'm trying to find a quiet place.
A church?
Certainly not the library.
That's anything but quiet these days.

What I picture in my mind, a perfect quiet place is
an abandoned train caboose in the middle of a field
in the middle of nowhere.

I feel like the Grinch when he says,
"Noise, noise, noise..."

Until I can find a truly quiet place that
I can just sit an be,
I'll have to settle for dunking my head underwater
in the tub for 30 second intervals.

Monday Monday

I felt good today.
The weather was nice and I got home at a decent hour.

Adam wasn't feeling 100% when I got home.
I think he got dehydrated.
I can deal with it when I don't feel well, but I hate it
when he doesn't feel well.
Odd.

He had a bit of a lay down before dinner
so I went for a quick walk with my camera.

Ladies doing their Boot Camp in the park.
Maybe one day......

New condos planned for Yonge & Lawrence where
the car dealership was.
Honestly, I was hoping for something else to go there
for the neighbourhood.

And finally......the Moon.

Coffee Walk

This morning, I decided to treat myself to a coffee.
It was sunny and bright and still early enough that
there was plenty of shade on the east side of the street
to take Crockett with me to Starbucks.

We saw alot of dogs, parents pushing prams and joggers.
Adam hates it when I take Crockett with me when I'll have
to tie him up, but believe me, he's never out of my sight.

The walk home took a little longer than our walk there
but it was perfect and not too hot.

He is now laying on the bed behind me with the fan
blowing cool air over him.
I'm sure a deep sleep and a foot moving dream will
follow shortly.

Movies and Dogs

This morning it was raining.
A perfect day for me to see the next Harry Potter Film
The Chamber of Secrets.
I saw the same folks at the theater as last Saturday.
Creatures of habit we humans are, we all sat in pretty much the same seats.
Next week will be my last.
The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite.
I love Gary Oldman.
I've said it before, he reminds me of my Dad.
I will also say, I much prefer Michael Gambon to Richard Harris.
Gambon is both eccentric and wise where Harris was really only wise.

I've watched films 4 thru 7 Part I so many times that I
don't need to see them in the theater again.
I'll wait patiently for the final film release July 15th.

On my way to the theater on the bus, there was a lady with a small
black dog ( Pekingese??)  wearing a yellow raincoat with a hood.
It was adorable. His name is Sebastian.
I've posted a photo of' him and his owner as my photo
of the day on my Project 365.

 Sebastian in his rain coat!

I say Movies, because after Harry Potter, Adam was
waiting for me in a different theater in the same complex
as we went to see X-Men First Class.
I loved it. There is a great cameo scene.
It is my favorite of the X-Men films so far.
Wolverine coming in second - Hugh Jackman - yummy!

It was so well done, really well acted and written and
really tells the story of how Magento and Prof X
came to be.
I also really like James McAvoy.

After the film, Adam told me we had to stop by the PJs Pet in the mall.
The doggie in the window; a Pug/ Boston Cross with a brindle coat.

Seeing Dogs in pet shops break my heart.
Especially breeds that I know are prone to health issues.
Pets are not to be purchased as impulse buys because they are cute
or on a payment plan to a store at $50 month.

We got Crockett from a breeder after doing alot of research and meeting
the mother and puppies from previous litters.
These poor pups most likely came from somewhere sad
where they are looked at as profit and not family companions.

By the time we left the theater, the sun was shining.
Crockett and I went for a short walk and bumped into
his lady Pug friend Lola.
She is adorable. Regal.

Almost Back to Normal

It truly was an eye opener having computer issues
this past week. It made me feel very unsettled.
A little paranoid even.

The heat and smog on Tuesday didn't help much.
I had an appointment in the afternoon and had to do a fair
amount of walking. It was truly awful.
By the time I got home I felt like I'd jumped
into a pool of hot sweaty stink.
The odors on the bus that day still linger
like nightmares in my memory.

A super-duper sized lady, with not enough clothes to cover herself
got on the bus and spent the time it
took to go 3 stops, pissing and moaning about the heat,
flapping her make shift fan & kissing the back of her teeth.
I got off the bus & waited for the next one.
I was in luck, it was half empty & so air conditioned
I needed to put my hoodie on.

Wednesday's weather was PERFECT.
It was sunny, not at all humid and really really windy.
I love when it's windy.
I like it when my hair blows in all directions.

I say almost back to normal, cause I'm just not quite there.
I have leaf and tree allergies that really only have caused
me slight issues and normally only in the Fall.
This week, I think it's something new.
I have the watery eyes, itchy throat and dry cough
to where you swear you're going to puke.
I woke up Thursday morning with a voice like Rita Crosby
or the current old Kathleen Turner.
I felt great, I just sounded awful.

There is a small hedge that runs in front of our bedroom and
kitchen windows.  In years past, it has been tended
to and trimmed down. This year, it's gone wild.
It grows more and more every day and now it is in full bloom.
We slept with the window open and I think these
hedges and their flowers are the reason for my voice.

These photos were taken looking out my kitchen window:

Looking to the right

Looking straight out the window

Looking to the left

Looking to the far left - to our bedroom windows.
Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful and we are
liking the added feel of privacy, but my word!
We can hardly even see the street!
