Our Timeline Has Shifted

I think of Crockett every day.  I miss him.  He was a wonderful sweet Pug.  Like every pet owner, I wish he could have lived forever, happy and healthy.

Life for me, without a Dog, is just not the same.  Some people enjoy hiking, camping, shopping, driving, gaming, baking, reading, knitting, etc. Me, I like to draw, color, paint, create things, but mostly I am a homebody who enjoys spending time with my Mr, my family, and enjoying the company of Dogs.

Dogs make my life better.  They give me something to care for.  They get me out walking, meeting neighbours, exploring the neighbourhood, and seeing things from a different perspective.

Who also doesn't love being loved unconditionally and greeted at the door with wags and kisses.

With the weather, and living in a very dog friendly neighbourhood, every time I'm outside be it 5:30am or 7:00pm, I see no less than 4 dogs with their people. It's killing me.

This weekend Adam and I may become a Dogs people.  We are going to the Toronto Mega Pet Adoption Event

It is taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Bldg at Exhibition Place.  Last year 585 Cats and Dogs were adopted.  Lovely.

It is not and will not be an easy choice.  We are leaving a lot to fate and hope that a four legged creature finds us worthy of being his/her people.

Fingers crossed and hearts ready. This video below is from last years event.

Realization

Two realizations hit me the other day rather hard as I was sitting on the couch watching TV:

1. I am 100% absolutely fine with the fact that I will never have children.

2. I am a Dog person.  I must and will have Dogs in my life, for my whole life.

I am in no way wanting to replace Crockett. He was unique and special and my heart is still hurting from our loss.

I am however hopeful that come next spring, we will be healed and ready to welcome a little 4 legged fur life in our home & hearts.

Pug Hill

With the stress I was feeling last week, I
escaped reality as much as possible in the book,

My Mom got it for us for Christmas just
because it is about Pugs.

It is an easy read and feels almost like
I'm reading a letter from a girlfriend.
I also love there is a Pug named Kermit in the book.
Great name for a Pug.

I'm generally a slow reader.
I find if I read too fast I get through a few pages
and then realize I have no idea what I just read,
so I take my time and relax.

I hope to be finished the book by mid-week
and I really hope my stress level this week is
nothing like last week.

I'm trying to decide my next read.
Little Women or Wuthering Heights

I Scream, Crockett Screams, We All Scream...

Today was just one of those days that ice cream was mandatory.
A nice cool creamy heavenly vanilla.

Crockett goes mental for ice cream.
I don't know why.
It doesn't matter if it is in a bowl or a cone.
I've tried to hide it, but he just knows.

Magical Pug super powers.

It's also a reason why I no longer eat chocolate ice cream.
Vanilla or vanilla laced with butterscotch or caramel.
Has to be Pug safe!
I'll even dig ice cream out of an ice cream sandwich for him.
No chocolate.

We once had a dog named Sheba.
She was a cheeky monkey.
Crazy smart.
She was a Daschund mixed with what looked like a Lab.

We also had Candy, a beautiful Boxer Chow mix.
( I'm getting teary thinking about my doggies of days gone by....)

My parents & I made the mistake of going out & leaving a box of wrapped
Brandy Beans under the Christmas tree.
We got home to wrapping and ripped cardboard everywhere and Sheba
having had ingested way too much chocolate
and way too much hard liquor.
Then again, there is no such thing as too much...it should be none!
Seriously, scary and bizarre.

Sheba was none the worse off and after her buzz wore off,
she was back to her intelligent lovely dogness.
Our other dog Candy just looked at us with an expression on her face of,
" It wasn't me!"

Since then, no dog gets chocolate, gets near
chocolate or even sniffs chocolate.

I wish I'd had my camera tonight to film Crockett
going mental.
I'm quite sure there'll be a few more ice cream
treats before summers end to catch on film & post!

Movies and Dogs

This morning it was raining.
A perfect day for me to see the next Harry Potter Film
The Chamber of Secrets.
I saw the same folks at the theater as last Saturday.
Creatures of habit we humans are, we all sat in pretty much the same seats.
Next week will be my last.
The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite.
I love Gary Oldman.
I've said it before, he reminds me of my Dad.
I will also say, I much prefer Michael Gambon to Richard Harris.
Gambon is both eccentric and wise where Harris was really only wise.

I've watched films 4 thru 7 Part I so many times that I
don't need to see them in the theater again.
I'll wait patiently for the final film release July 15th.

On my way to the theater on the bus, there was a lady with a small
black dog ( Pekingese??)  wearing a yellow raincoat with a hood.
It was adorable. His name is Sebastian.
I've posted a photo of' him and his owner as my photo
of the day on my Project 365.

 Sebastian in his rain coat!

I say Movies, because after Harry Potter, Adam was
waiting for me in a different theater in the same complex
as we went to see X-Men First Class.
I loved it. There is a great cameo scene.
It is my favorite of the X-Men films so far.
Wolverine coming in second - Hugh Jackman - yummy!

It was so well done, really well acted and written and
really tells the story of how Magento and Prof X
came to be.
I also really like James McAvoy.

After the film, Adam told me we had to stop by the PJs Pet in the mall.
The doggie in the window; a Pug/ Boston Cross with a brindle coat.

Seeing Dogs in pet shops break my heart.
Especially breeds that I know are prone to health issues.
Pets are not to be purchased as impulse buys because they are cute
or on a payment plan to a store at $50 month.

We got Crockett from a breeder after doing alot of research and meeting
the mother and puppies from previous litters.
These poor pups most likely came from somewhere sad
where they are looked at as profit and not family companions.

By the time we left the theater, the sun was shining.
Crockett and I went for a short walk and bumped into
his lady Pug friend Lola.
She is adorable. Regal.
