Easy Going

Adam is easy going.
I am not.

He sits there, not bothered at all as I take
numeous photos of him.

My handsome husband.

Sunday Walk in the Neighbourhood

The temperature today is 10°C with overcast skies.
I would have preferred clear blue skies but I cannot complain.
Today is perfect walking weather.

Crockett & I ventured out in the neighbourhood.
I even stopped at the corner for a cup of coffee to enjoy on our walk.
Crockett is still miserable and sore.
We walked on sidewalks, no stairs, no uneven terrain
and I walked at his pace.
Upon return home I put a dose of his painkiller in his food
so hopefully he will have a sleepy pain-free afternoon.

I took pictures along the way & saw my first Robin of the season.
I don't know why, it is always something I make note of.
It's as though the Robin announces the arrival of Spring.

I'll be saving all my toonies
& change this week.

An interesting neighbourhood house.

Daisies are my favorite flower.
Even though these are metal, they're still pretty.

This is an amazing door.
It is on the hydro building down the street.
There should be a moat in front of it with a drawbridge.

It is huge.
It makes Crockett look the size of a squirrel.
When I stand in front of it, the ring handles are at shoulder level.

All the neighbourhood lacks right now is color.
We need green grass and pretty flower beds
to erase the grey post-winter pre-spring blahs.

Crockett is a Little Bit Mental and Alot Sore.

Crockett the Super Pug is about to turn 8 years old & he
has been a medical miracle since birth.
So many weird behavioural things come and go.

He failed once jumping onto our bed, fell back on the floor
onto his tail and hurt his back. He pinched the nerves between
2 discs, lost the use of his back legs and the ability to control
his bathroom functions and caused temporary paralysis and inflammation.
This is not at all the correct medical terminology, but the best
way I can explain it without pulling out his file.
This is also why our bed does not sit on a frame - to be closer to the ground.

He had to be immobile in a crate for 6 weeks. I had to squeeze his belly
to get the tinkle out.  It took him a good year to not walk wonky.
It took almost 2 years for him to be able to lift one of his back legs
when he tinkled.  Half his bum is still numb.  He can hold it in, but he
doesn't stop & bend his back, he just walks & poops.
If he stands still too long, his back legs bend & it's like a slow motion sit.

This is a visual of what he did to his back. Ouch!

If he runs or walks too much, he gets achy and sore.
We have painkillers for him when he is too uncomfortable.

For the past 3 days, his behaviour and personality have changed 180 degrees.
He doesn't want to be near us. He runs away from us.
He's excited to eat & to go out but it takes a few minutes
of following him around to get his harness on.

I'm quite sure I'd be the same if my back was sore.

Today on our walk, he was miserable and slow but when
we got back home he didn't want to come in.
It is beautiful outside but still.

He's actually pacing all over the apartment like his mind is
racing or he is having a bad trip. It's really odd.

Adam & I have finished our chores and we are going to park
ourselves on the couch & watch a few movie rentals.
I'll make Crockett's bed all nice a comfy & hopefully
he'll relax & be back to himself soon.

I love him to death and he worries me silly.
I love him, he's our 1st Pug and probably our last.
They are a beautiful, goofy, happy, loving, playful breed
but have so many breed health issues that it's scary.

Sleepy puppy.

Calvin Understands My Frustration

Has my consumption of Tim Hortons’ Large Double Double
increased since they started the
Roll Up The Rim To Win campaign?
Yes.

Am I happy about it?
No.

There very 1st day of the campaign, I won a free coffee.
That free coffee won me another free coffee.

Since then, nothing.

The result is that my morning coffee just
hasn’t been as satisfying as it usually is.

Let’s hope fate turns around & I win the Loto Max tonight!

Physical Labor = Sore Feet

Today, I was volunteered to go with the Sales Guy
to a store to set our 2011 Modular.

We worked on it from 9:00am to 12:30pm.
The actual work was fine.
Take everything off the shelves.
The Sales Guy moved around the shelves.
Put back continuing items, unpack & add new 2011 items.

By the time we left, I was hot, dirty, I had cut my pinkie
and it hurt more than a paper cut, but the worst was the
pain in my feet.
Folks who work on their feet all day are amazing.
I have much admiration for them.
I couldn't do it.
Well, I could do it but I'd be one miserable girl.

Here's our stuff.

My feet are still sore.
I must spend the evening with them up.

30 Days of Lists: Part V - The End

30 Days have come & gone.
Here are my last lists.

It actually ended with a list that is pretty dull;
Today's To Do.
It's Wednesday...booooring.

It really is a big tomato.
It was the best tasting tomato I've had all winter.

Adam is amazing at selecting the perfect tomato.
About 3 years ago he went into Dominion for a few items
and I stayed outside with Crockett.
He was taking longer than I figured he should so I peered in the window.
There he was, going through them all one by one, picking out the best ones.
Seeing him do that, as odd as this seems, made me
realize how much he loves me.

He's also great at selecting the perfect avocado & oranges.

30 Days of Lists: Part IV

Only 4 days of lists left :(
March has passed by so quickly!
I really have enjoyed the process.

I'll have to come up with a weekly something that
makes me dig into why I am the way I am and the things
I like the way I like them and why.
How's THAT for a run on sentence!

Here are my Lists from last Week.

Pug Noises

Please ignore the messy bed & exposed mattress, we were
taking a break in between loads of laundry for a snack.

Crockett usually is not a dog snack dog.
The ONLY treats he's ever eaten are these ones given
to him by my Sister In Law this past Christmas.

This is typical Pug nom nom nom noise.

Enjoy!
