Crockett is a Little Bit Mental and Alot Sore.

Crockett the Super Pug is about to turn 8 years old & he
has been a medical miracle since birth.
So many weird behavioural things come and go.

He failed once jumping onto our bed, fell back on the floor
onto his tail and hurt his back. He pinched the nerves between
2 discs, lost the use of his back legs and the ability to control
his bathroom functions and caused temporary paralysis and inflammation.
This is not at all the correct medical terminology, but the best
way I can explain it without pulling out his file.
This is also why our bed does not sit on a frame - to be closer to the ground.

He had to be immobile in a crate for 6 weeks. I had to squeeze his belly
to get the tinkle out.  It took him a good year to not walk wonky.
It took almost 2 years for him to be able to lift one of his back legs
when he tinkled.  Half his bum is still numb.  He can hold it in, but he
doesn't stop & bend his back, he just walks & poops.
If he stands still too long, his back legs bend & it's like a slow motion sit.

This is a visual of what he did to his back. Ouch!

If he runs or walks too much, he gets achy and sore.
We have painkillers for him when he is too uncomfortable.

For the past 3 days, his behaviour and personality have changed 180 degrees.
He doesn't want to be near us. He runs away from us.
He's excited to eat & to go out but it takes a few minutes
of following him around to get his harness on.

I'm quite sure I'd be the same if my back was sore.

Today on our walk, he was miserable and slow but when
we got back home he didn't want to come in.
It is beautiful outside but still.

He's actually pacing all over the apartment like his mind is
racing or he is having a bad trip. It's really odd.

Adam & I have finished our chores and we are going to park
ourselves on the couch & watch a few movie rentals.
I'll make Crockett's bed all nice a comfy & hopefully
he'll relax & be back to himself soon.

I love him to death and he worries me silly.
I love him, he's our 1st Pug and probably our last.
They are a beautiful, goofy, happy, loving, playful breed
but have so many breed health issues that it's scary.

Sleepy puppy.
