My November Morning

Woke up this morning to Dad calling & asking if I wanted to go & see Shen Yun.  Um...YES!  Can't wait!  I've always wanted to go so that is something to look forward to in the cold month of January.

I was moving in slow motion so after I fed Crockett, so I put his leash on to keep him near me to avoid any old man tinkle accidents in the apartment before we made it outside.  He was adorable & just sat there (yes, on a Harry Potter blanket) with a look on his face of, "c'mon already!"

It is a overcast but otherwise a perfect November morning. No wind.  I had to undo my jacket and loosen my scarf.

There is a church up the street that backs on the the parkette/ravine that looked to close during the summer.  It was a Christian Science Church.  They've started the demolition.  I am going to do some poking around on City of Toronto website to see if I can find what will going up there. Houses, condos, or I hope, a community center.  It'll probably be homes as 4 can fit on the property and could easily be valued over a million each. It's a prime location.  I'll have to make a point of going by every week or so to document the progress.

Right in front of the church was this pick up truck.  I've seen it parked around the neighbourhood for a while but have never seen it's owner.  He/She normally has pro-conservative party stickers all over it, but the best part is, it's a Hoarder's pick up truck.  It is always filled with shit.  The front seat was no better and on the passenger side floor was a red plastic gas can.  I just picture an action star walking away from it a la: cool guys don't look at explosions!

There aren't too many houses that have their lights/decorations up.  No doubt they wish they'd done in 2 weekends ago when it was beautiful & sunny out.  Crockett was happy to be out but didn't argue when we went back in.

Now that the gym in complete, the next project the building has on the go is building a roof top terrace.  I hope we get a good view of the park.

The rest of the day is going to be spent making chicken soup, reading, and napping.

And So It Begins....

They have finished the Gym in our basement.  NO MORE EXCUSES. We don't even have to go outside.  It's 10 stairs and about 30 paces away from our door!

I will say the only thing lacking is natural light and color.  But for the winter, it'll be PERFECT!

Finally!

It seemed to take me forever this year to adjust to the time change.  This week is the first since we turned the clocks back that I haven't felt like going to bed at 8:00pm.

I don't know why, but it takes a bit longer to get home. The buses and the subways have more people on them.  I suppose we all have our after work pre-holiday chores to get out of the way.

I stopped at the library on the way home. I got Tina Fey's Bossypants and for Adam the new memoir from Robert Evans. It'll be a nice quiet reading weekend.  I did put a hold on the Helen Fielding's new Bridget Jones book Mad About the Boy, but after I read about the demise of a critical character, I cancelled my hold and am still awfully disappointed. I refuse to read it.

Tonight I feel like sitting in our front room, cozy in the corner, with Stardust on DVD in the background, and doing some writing.  The only negative is that my chair is just not as comfortable as I need it to be. Maybe it's due to my bad posture.  Sit up straight!

This morning I thought I'd hit my snooze button but had in fact, turned my alarm off.  I left the house 1 hour later than usual and got a lovely picture of the new moon in the morning sky.

This is where I am & where I'll be for the next little while. Lovely.

This and That

With the time change, I turned into a Bear in that I feel it's time to hibernate.  Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining.  The weather has been wonderful.  It's Nov 17'13 and I'm sitting here next to an open window wearing a t-shirt, and enjoying the breeze!

By the time 8pm rolls around and it's dark out, I'm ready for sleep.  I've hit the pillow every night early for the past 2 weeks.  The plus side is that I'm back to waking up early on the weekend.  Today I was up @ 6:30am.  Crockett was fed and walked, and I'd done 5 loads of laundry by 10am.

It's also a time of year when I like to cozy up with a good book. My eyes are still not 100% so I have to make sure I only read for 15-20 mins at a time.  Otherwise, I look up from the pages and just can't scan or see properly. Scary.

I cut my hair. Pixie cut. LOVE it and so does Adam. I feel so much better and tidier with short hair. My greys are really shiny and look almost silver. I'm happy with them and I will NOT dye my hair!

Here are some randoms from the past few weeks.

These first three were taken yesterday. What a PERFECT day!

I sat on the bench & let Crockett take his time.

From same bench, I took a shot of our building.  They've just announced they are building a roof top terrace. Fingers crossed it'll be lovely with a great view of the park!

Toronto Light Pole decorations.  They are beautiful but call me traditional, I like reds, greens, golds, and silver decorations.

The sky while waiting for the bus to work @ Finch Station.  Probably around 6:50am.

I truly love our dog. He gets me out walking. He is so sweet. He's my buddy.

These signs are on a lot of front lawns in the neighborhood and for good reason. Go to www.whyalaska.ca  & you'll see.  I read somewhere it was classified as egotistical architechture and that is a good description.  I think the design fits into the city somewhere, just not the Uptown Yonge neighbourhood.
